About me
I trained first at LAMDA as an actor and I then trained as a director with Mike Alfreds, where I learnt a rigour in preparation and rehearsal, a purity of vision, and a commitment to giving the actors the freedom to go wherever they need to, each night.
I’m really passionate about actor led theatre - theatre that places what is happening between the actors at its centre. It’s finally the life between them that we all come to see. My work as a director is focused help bring out this genuine life between actors, and leave it as uncluttered as possible, free from concepts, ideas or directorial posturing blocking them. My work is not fixed, and the actors are encouraged to allow new things each night, so that their impulsive spontaneity and in-the-moment imagination is emphasised, rather than all the good ideas we had in the rehearsal room six weeks ago.
I’m particularly interested in stories and plays that provide an exorcism for the audience, that affect and shift people on an experiential level.
